and a high clearance vehicle. Located in the desert and away from civilization, the Pinnacles are an incredible place to camp and explore. Designated as dispersed camping by the BLM, this spot offers stunning 360-degree views, incredible sunsets, and a stunning night sky. With plenty of room to spread out, the Pinnacles are perfect for social distancing. Although there is no potable water or shade, the area is great for star gazing and teaching kids about desert wildlife. A 4x4 vehicle is recommended for driving beyond the pinnacles, and air down your tires at the trailhead for a smoother ride. Be sure to bring all the supplies you need and take everything with you when you leave, as there are not many resources nearby. Enjoy the serenity of the desert and the beauty of the night sky at the Pinnacles.

The Trona Pinnacles are a unique geological features in the California Desert Conservation Area. The unusual landscape consists of more than 500 tufa spires, some as high as 140 feet, rising from the bed of the Searles Dry Lake basin. The pinnacles vary in size and shape from short and squat to tall and thin, and are composed primarily of calcium carbonate (tufa). The Trona Pinnacles have been featured in many commercials, films, and still-photo shoots.
