From The Campground

Emigrant Group Campground is located above the shoreline of Stampede Reservoir within the Tahoe National Forest. It offers four group sites, each with a central cooking and picnic area equipped with a campfire circle, tables, and grills. Horseshoe pits are located at the Woodsman site. Accessible vault toilets and drinking water are available. Firewood is available from the nearby Logger Campground hosts. All sites are within walking distance to the reservoir. Boating, water skiing, swimming, and fishing are popular activities on the reservoir. Many miles of hiking/biking and off-road vehicle trails crisscross the surrounding area. Very popular Commemorative Overland Emigrant bike riding/hiking trail can be accessed by riding from campground. This trail stretches over 15 miles to the west, ending near Donner Picnic area where you can take a short walk on the interpretative trail learning about the trials of the early pioneers. This trail can be very busy on weekends.
