From The Campground

Payne Springs Campground is located in the scenic Medicine Lake Highlands, adjacent to the Modoc Volcanic Scenic Byway and near the Lava Beds National Monument. It is a great place to visit and learn about the local geology and history. The campground has 5 single sites, all on a first come first served basis. There is no drinking water, but each site has picnic tables and fire pits with fair road conditions getting to the sites. Day use is limited to 10:00PM.
