Cottonwood Campground is a great place to stay if youre looking for a remote camping experience in Joshua Tree National Park. The campground is situated in an arid landscape with small stands of spidery ocotillo and cholla cactus, and is one of the few in the park with flush toilets and water. The sites are sandy and dusty and each has a concrete picnic table and fire ring. There are two loops, with pull-through and back-in sites that can accommodate rigs up to 25 feet, although the pull-through sites are narrow and may not be suitable for rigs with slideouts. Water is available and the campground is close to the Cottonwood Visitor Center, which has basic ranger station and bathrooms, but no gift shop or cafe. Wildlife such as kangaroo rats and wild coyotes can be seen and heard in the area, and the night sky is filled with stars. The campground is a great stop for road trips and is an hour drive from the northern end of the park, where most of the attractions are located. Reservations fill up quickly, so its best to plan ahead.

From The Campground

Cottonwood Campground is located in Joshua Tree National Park and offers individual campsites that can accommodate an overall combined RV length (including a towed vehicle) of up to 35 feet. The campground features toilets and fire pits, but no showers. Hammocks and slacklines are not permitted in the campground. The campground is open year-round and reservations can be made through www.recreation.gov.
