What others are saying about this campground
Acorn Campground is a large, 132-site Corps of Engineers campground on New Hogan Lake. Sites are generally well spaced apart, providing good privacy, and there is a good variety of sites to choose from, some with amazing lake views. Amenities include flush restrooms, showers, and firewood available for purchase onsite. Valley Springs is a short 5 minute drive away, with a grocery store and restaurants. The campground is great for tent and RV camping, with warm weather and great swimming and fishing opportunities. Boating, kayaking, paddle boarding, and biking are also available. The campground is usually quiet, but the bathrooms can be a disaster. Shade trees are available, but they aren’t great. Water spigots are available at the campsite. Unfortunately, many of the sites are on a terrible slope, so tent campers should be aware of this. Picknik tables and fire rings are available, but there is not much else to do. There is no formal check-in system and the showers were not working and the rest rooms were filthy.
