From The Campground
Environmental Camps offer visitors a tranquil alternative to developed campgrounds. Humboldt Redwoods State Park has two Environmental Camps located on Mattole Road, approximately 6 miles west of the Avenue of the Giants. These sites have picnic tables, fire rings, bear lockers, chemical toilets, and untreated water. Both Environmental Camps are located in black bear country. All food and scented items must be stored in a bear locker. Site-specific reservations are available from just before Memorial Day through Labor Day weekend. Baxter and Hamilton Barn are quite popular and reservations are recommended. Fees are $20.00 per night.
