Humboldt Redwoods State Park spans 53,000 acres, an area almost twice the size of San Francisco. About one third, or 17,000 acres, of the park is old-growth redwood forest—the largest expanse of ancient redwoods left on the planet. Visitors can enjoy a variety of overnight facilities including environmental campsites, family campsites, group campsites, and hike or bike campsites. The park also offers bike trails, hiking trails, horseback riding, historical/cultural sites, picnic areas, environmental learning/visitor center, exhibits and programs, fishing, guided tours, interpretive exhibits, swimming, and museums. Restrooms and outdoor showers are available for visitors. Dogs are allowed in the park except for on trails, with the exception of service animals.
