GenieSummary

Usal Beach is an incredible campground located off the far north end of Highway 1. The winding, rutted dirt road is a bit of an adventure, but the reward is a jaw-dropping view of the beach. During peak season, the campsites can get a little busy as Usal serves as the southernmost trailhead for the Lost Coast Trail. It is also a popular spot for locals to make day trips. During the summer weekends, some local kids come to drink and party, so it can get noisy and rowdy, but the area is spread out enough that finding a private camp is usually an option. Usal is a great place to spot wild elk and take in the stunning views of the Lost Coast. There are lots of camping spots on the beach and in the tree line, but it can get windy at night. There is no water source besides the creek, so campers should bring enough fresh water for their stay and be prepared to use pit toilets. The road to reach the beach is only about 5 miles long, but it will take around 45 minutes. A decent clearance vehicle is recommended. Unfortunately, some people dont take care of the campground, leaving garbage and poop behind, but it is still a beautiful and peaceful place to visit, especially during the week.

From The Campground

Sinkyone Wilderness State Park is a rugged wilderness located in the Lost Coast of California.
