GenieSummary
This campground is located in the southern end of Yosemite National Park and is a great place to get away from the busy tourist areas. The drive to and from the campground is a bit harrowing due to the mountain roads, but the scenery is worth it. The sites vary in size, but are generally roomy and offer some privacy. The campground is situated by a nice river, although there isnt much water in the fall. There are no lights in the bathrooms, but they are clean and have kitchen washing stations. The ranger was very friendly and made sure everyone was in their site and car parked off the road. The local Pine Tree Market in Wawona has most basic groceries including fruits and veggies, and the Wawona Hotel is nearby with a piano player most nights. There is no hiking trail from the campground, but it is less than a mile away from the Mariposa Grove of Big Trees and the Wawona Golf Course. The sewer dump and clean water tank fill station is located 2 miles away down Forest Road in Wawona. The campground is not super close to all the regular tourist things, but it is a great place to experience a National Park. The nightly rate reflects the Interagency Senior Pass discount.
