GenieSummary

Mogote Campground is a great summer camping spot located in southern Colorado. It offers fly fishing access to the Conejos River, and the upper loop sites have spectacular views of open fields and mountains in the background. The sites are well-maintained and private, and the campground is managed by Scenic Canyons. There is no cell phone service in the campground, but it is a great place to get back to nature and enjoy activities like fishing, hiking, and biking. Sites on the lower loop have more trees and are closer to the river, but they can be prone to mosquitoes. There is no dump station or water for filling tanks, but there is a community spigot and a nearby private park that offers a dump station and water for a fee.

From The Campground

Mogote Campground is a pleasant and attractive campground that is excellent for both the transient and destination camper. It sits among Ponderosa, aspen, spruce, cottonwood and juniper trees, and is composed of two loops - Upper and Lower. The Lower Loop is adjacent to the fast-moving Conejos River with some sites next to the river. There are 40 campsites (21 are pull-through) with tables and fireplaces, 4 vault-type toilets, drinking water (hydrants) and refuse receptacles for your convenience. Consider a day trip on the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad (steam) which offers a 64-mile journey through abandoned mining towns.
