From The Campground
Little Bear Campground is located in Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests. The campground is at 10,200-foot elevation and has 36 campsites, 2 of which are handicapped-accessible. The maximum spur length is 49 ft. The campground is composed of two loops along the shore of Island Lake with some sites along the shore of the lake. It is heavily wooded with spruce trees. The campground is convenient to several of the Mesa's 300 lakes, the visitor center, and Crag Crest Trailhead. The amenities include potable water, vault toilets, and a fish cleaning station. The activities include camping, fishing, and hiking. The fees are $22 per night per camping unit, $10 per firewood bundle, and $6 per day for day use/picnic. The campground is open from June 18 to October 3 and is operated by a concessionaire. Reservations are not available, and it is first-come, first-serve camping. Bring plenty of mosquito repellent.
