Thunder Ridge Campground is located in the Pike National Forest and is the perfect spot for a quiet weekend getaway. The campground offers tent and RV sites, as well as vault toilets, trash service, and centrally located water spigots. The sites are all very roomy and nicely spaced apart, and the campground is surrounded by tall pine trees that provide plenty of shade. It is also very close to the shore of Rampart Reservoir, making it easy to carry a kayak or paddle board. The campground host, Eric, is very friendly and helpful. The dirt road to the camp is bumpy, but the camping is worth it. There are lots of activities nearby, such as hiking, fishing, and exploring the nearby towns and attractions. The campground also offers stunning views of the forest and lake, and there is plenty of wildlife in the area. Cell service is limited, but there is no need for AC due to the cooler temperatures. Be sure to book early, as this is a popular campground!
