The Cortex/Mesa Verde KOA in Cortez, Colorado is an ideal campground for those visiting Mesa Verde National Park. It is conveniently located just 15 minutes away from the park entrance. The campground offers a range of amenities including a heated (seasonal) swimming pool, a 1-mile walking trail, dog park, updated playground, tepees, cabins, and newer laundry facilities. The sites are all gravel, but there is a patch of grass behind each site and plenty of space to remove yourself from other people throughout the facility. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the camp store is well-stocked. There is strong Verizon LTE coverage, wide dirt/gravel interior roads, and several mature trees that provide shade. The campground is also close to the county dog park and a nearby lake, and there is a path along the lake for daily walks. There is also a great view of the mountains from the campground. The only downsides are the lack of shade and the slow Wi-Fi.
