What others are saying
Heaton Bay Campground is a stunning lakefront campground located on Lake Dillon in Summit County, Colorado. With easy access to the lake, its the perfect spot to bring your fishing pole, SUP, kayak, or hammock to hang out by the lake. The campground offers plenty of walk up sites that open up in the mornings for last minute camping, and every site is close to the water and secluded from other campers. There is direct access to Dillon Reservoir, with several of the campsites backing to inlets of the reservoir. The reservoir is a no body contact area, so swimming is not allowed. There are deer trails throughout the grounds to access the water and do some fishing. It is easily accessible from the highway and right outside Frisco, so if you forget anything or need Starbucks it is just minutes away. The campground is just minutes from Frisco and I-70, so it can be a bit noisy from vehicle noise. There is shade around to set up chairs or tent in a shady spot, and the sites on the inside of the loop are backed up very closely to each other. The bathrooms are a bit far away, but there is a deer trail between the sites that leads straight to them. The campground rangers are friendly and helpful, and firewood is available for sale at the local grocery stores. Its the perfect spot for beginner campers, as the town of Dillon is a short 10 minute drive away in case you forget any essential gear.
