Alpen Rose RV Park in Durango, CO offers a wonderful camping experience. The park is kept very clean and landscaped, and the staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. The facilities are well-maintained, and even though some may be closed based on the time of year, there is still plenty to enjoy. The pet playground is great and there is a general store that is cozy. The propane is readily available, and there are bathroom and laundry facilities in great shape. The location is perfect, just far enough from town to be restful but close enough to be an easy drive. There is a beautiful D&S Train that comes through a couple of times a day that is a fun experience to see. The park is a full-service resort that offers pull-thru and back-in spots that are quite spacious. They have a giant dog park that is perfect for both large and small dogs. Water and sewer hookups work fine, but the 50amp elec plug showed signs of past overheating. However, the electricity remains stable. The slots in the back have much more shade with lovely tree cover and some of the slots in the front also have tree shade, but the trees mostly dont offer much shade if thats something that is important to you. Additionally, the pull-thrus face one another and share green space with a neighbor. But the space is so large that it never feels crowded. The parks cafe serves breakfast on Fri/Sat/Sun and their breakfast burritos and sandwiches are very enjoyable. Propane filling is easy and convenient. Overall, Alpen Rose RV Park is a great place to stay, and visitors will have a wonderful experience.
