This campground is a hidden gem, located just minutes from the town of Durango, Colorado. It is situated in the San Juan National Forest and provides stunning views of the wilderness. Campsites are spacious and well kept, with fire rings, picnic tables, restrooms and potable water available. There are shady sites that can accommodate large rigs, and tent campers will feel surrounded by nature. The campsites are spread out, allowing for privacy and quiet. The road up to the campground is a bit rough, but is manageable. The campground is immaculate and the bathrooms are clean. The camp hosts are friendly and helpful, and the views are beautiful. There is no onsite dump station or fresh water refill for trailer tanks, but there are several resources in the area for tanks filling and dumping. Additionally, there is no cell service at the campground, but about a mile up or down the road there is LTE on AT&T. This campground is a great home base to explore Durango and the Animas Valley, and is perfect for those looking for a peaceful and secluded camping experience.
