From The Campground
Almont Campground is a beautiful camping spot located adjacent to Colorado State Highway 135. The campground is in walking distance of the Almont Gorge, where the East River and Taylor River join to form the Gunnison River. The landscape is mostly aspen and cottonwood trees. The campground offers 10 single campsites, each with a vault toilet and a hand pump for potable water. The campground is open from May to October and operates on a first-come, first-serve basis. The campground fee is $16 per night per camping unit, and $6 per day for day use/picnic use if in a campsite. Firewood bundles are available for $10. The campground offers recreational activities such as fishing, boating, nature viewing, and picnicking. Bald eagle viewing is also available in late fall. Off-Highway Vehicle use is not allowed in the campground. Campers are required to store food and other items in a hard-sided vehicle or camping unit constructed of solid non-pliable material.
