This campground is a great place to stay for those looking for a peaceful getaway. It is owned and operated by a young family and has a great camp host, Charlie, who is always willing to help. The park is located on the river and has a nice little waterside park area with grass, benches, a fire pit, and flat ground for lawn chairs. The sites are all dirt and many are unlevel front to back, but they have a concrete pad with a picnic table. There is one bathroom for women and one for men with shower, sink, and toilet in one room. The tall shade trees and cool breezes off the river make for a pleasant atmosphere. There is also a central meeting facility with a large outdoor patio for pot lucks and other social gatherings. The only downsides are that Verizon Wireless cell service doesnt work at the park, WiFi is poor, and the laundry is at the womens restroom/shower entrance. Salida is a fun town with plenty of restaurants, bars, art galleries, and antique shops nearby. It is a combination Colorado desert-like setting with lush green grass and snowcapped mountains around.
