Sites are spacious and the campground is right on the river. We had a great time here and would definitely come back. Springer Gulch in Eleven Mile Canyon Recreation Area is a beautiful primitive campground located just 40 minutes from Colorado Springs. The road into the Recreation Area is washboard and has large ditches, so caution is advised if you are pulling a trailer. Once you arrive, you will be surrounded by stunning canyon views and the sound of the river. There are plenty of spots to set up and tube/float along the river, as well as hiking trails and fishing opportunities. With the stage 2 fire ban, propane use is limited for light and cooking. The area is very quiet and peaceful, with the exception of a few RV campers and folks riding motorcycles and ATVs (which isnt permitted). At night, you can hear the river and an owl hooting. The campground has vault toilets and is well maintained. There is a house near by with two dogs that may bark during the day, but otherwise it is very peaceful. The campground is right on the river and the sites are spacious. There is limited potable water and no hook ups, but it is the perfect spot for a weekend away.
