Travel Port Campground is a great place to stay if you are visiting the Lake George and Highway 24 area. It is tucked away in the mature evergreen trees and offers a mix of seasonal and regular visitors. The campground is further off Highway 24 than other campgrounds in the area, providing a quieter atmosphere and mild road noise. You can find electric, water, sewer, and level spots to park with a concrete parking pad. The site to the off-door side (driver) has a rocky hill next to it where you can watch chipmunks and rabbits hop around. The door side looks over the dry storage area. There is also a large storage facility on the property with a lot of old vehicles stored on the premises. Restrooms are clean and basic with a summer camp feeling-painted cement floors, cold water only for the hand basins and home made decorations. There is no laundry room, TV, Internet, or other amenities of that type. The owners are friendly and helpful and the potluck dinner on Saturday night is fantastic. Be prepared to drive a ways for gasoline or groceries as location is remote. Also altitude is 8200 feet.
