What others are saying about this campground
Glacier Basin Campground is a great place to stay for those looking to explore the Rocky Mountain National Park. Located across the valley from the Transit Center on Bear Lake Road on the east side of the park, it is conveniently located to access all park sites and trail heads on the east side using the shuttle service. The campground is all dry camping, but they do have water and a dump station so its not a problem to stay here with a rig that will fit. The roads are narrow and the turns are a little tight, but the very active and friendly camp hosts are often around to help direct you so that you are facing the way youd like. The sites are small, but each campsite has a picnic table, fire ring with grate and tent pad. There are a large number of sites here but they are NOT designed for a big rig, nor do they advertise them as such. They state 35 foot maximum and I think thats pretty accurate. There are (unofficial) places for off-leash dog walking, and trails for every ambition. No OTA, no Dish (due to trees) and spotty AT&T cell service. Generators are allowed in only certain portions of C loop, so check your site selection carefully if this is a concern for you. The scenery is spectacular with an abundance of wildlife (deer, elk and even an occasionally moose), and there are lockers for food stuffs located between sites, if not stored inside camper. The nightly ranger talks are great and entertaining for the kids. There is a great view of the mountains, and the campground has been hit hard by the pine beetles, so a lot of the trees have been cut down.
