What others are saying about this campground
Timber Creek Campground is a great spot to camp in Rocky Mountain National Park. Located in the Kauwanechee Valley, the campground is at an elevation of 8900 and features 1st come 1st serve sites with a picnic table and fire ring. The campground was recently ravaged by the pine bark beetles, leaving it as a sunny meadow with many small trees beginning to encroach on the interior roads and campsites. Wildlife is abundant, with elk and moose often seen in the campground. The standard rate of $26 is high for dry camping, and there are no hook-ups or showers. The campground is often full by late afternoon, and the lack of trees makes solar work well. The roads have been re-paved and new picnic tables are being installed. The west side of the park is much less crowded than the east side and even on Labor Day weekend the place was not chaotic.
