From The Campground
Angel of Shavano Campground is a beautiful tent camping site located in Pike-San Isabel National Forests & Cimarron and Comanche National Grasslands. The campsites are wooded with aspen and spruce trees along the north fork of the south Arkansas River. The campground has 20 sites, each with a picnic table and fire ring with grill. The campground can accommodate RV's and trailers up to 30' in length. The Colorado Trail (#1776) is located across the road from this campground, providing great hiking opportunities. The campground also offers river and stream fishing. Drinking water and vault toilets are available. The campground is open from May 19, 2023 to Sept. 24, 2023. The fee for overnight camping is $22 per site, and two vehicles or one RV per site is included in the camping fee. A third vehicle costs $10. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis, and no reservations are accepted. Prior to Memorial Day weekend and after Labor Day, hosts and water may not be available. Interagency Senior/Access passes are valid for a 50% discount to the camping fee for one site. Dogs must be leashed, and there is a stay limit of 14 consecutive days. The closest towns are Poncha Springs and Salida, CO.
