What others are saying about this campground
Lake Irwin Campground is a stunning campground located near Crested Butte, Colorado. It offers a variety of camping options, including reservable sites, dispersed camping, and first come first serve sites. The sites are spread out and offer plenty of privacy, with vault toilets and fire pits with grills. The lake is a great spot for fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, and other non-motorized boats. The nearby Dyke Trailhead provides 13+ miles of beautiful mountain biking and hiking trails, and the Red Lady trail is a great spot for a scenic hike. The campground is close enough to Crested Butte for dinner or supplies, but far enough away to feel like youre in the wilderness. The road leading up to the campground is a bit rough and a high clearance vehicle is recommended, but small cars can make it if youre careful. Dont forget to bring a sweater for the chilly nights and be sure to follow Leave No Trace principles.
