What others are saying about this campground
This campground is located on the edge of the Rio Grande National Forest, at an elevation of 8400. It is conveniently located 3 miles west of South Fork on Hwy 160, and is one of the quietest parks around. The campsites are close together but the views are amazing, with many of them backed up to the Rio Grande River. The owners and staff are friendly and accommodating, and they offer a variety of activities such as ice cream socials, breakfasts, potlucks, and more. There is a two mile section of the South Fork of Rio Grande River for fishing, and several cabins and RVs for rent. The campground is conveniently located for access to Wolfe Creek Pass, Creede, Pagosa Springs, and the Great Sand Dune NP. ATT and Verizon coverage is good, but T-Mobile is not available. There is a fire ban, but the owners have provided large propane grills for the park. The WiFi is unreliable, but cell phone service is good with Verizon. The campground is an older park, established in the 1950s, and scenes from the movie National Lampoons Vacation were filmed here. The grounds are great for accessing nature and the river, and the nearby town of South Fork is a good central location for accessing other areas in southern Colorado.
