Trinidad Lake State Park is a great camping spot for those looking to enjoy the outdoors. At night there is zero light pollution and you can see so many stars. The lake is fished nearly as much as Denver and the fish are bigger and easier to catch. There are full bathrooms and showers available for campers, and the campsite layout is great. There are 62 sites in Carpios Ridge, 7 of which are full hook-ups. There is no swimming allowed in the lake, but there is a nice playground area and a walking path along the dam. There are also fire pits and picnic tables at each campsite. The view of Fishers Peak is also stunning.

From The Campground

Trinidad Lake State Park offers two campgrounds with a total of 73 sites. The South Shore Campground has ten non-electric sites within walking distance of the lake, while the Carpios Ridge Campground has 63 campsites that can accommodate RVs, trailers or tents. Modern facilities at this campground include centrally-located water hydrants, 50-amp electrical service at all sites, full hookups at seven sites, and a camper services building with coin-operated showers, laundry, and flush toilets. The campground is patrolled for safety and to ensure quiet after 10 p.m. Winter camping is available at sites 1-23, 62 and 63 with electricity available at all sites and water taps scattered throughout the campground. Sites 1-4, 6, 62 and 63 are full hookup sites and are available year-round. Sites 24-61 are closed between mid-October to mid-March. Universally accessible facilities are available at the Carpios Ridge Campground and picnic area. Restrooms, showers, picnic tables, and drinking fountains are also accessible. Group camping facilities for up to 60 people are available at the Piedmont Group Campground.
