This KOA campground is located in a remote part of Colorado, and is the only one in the area with full hookups. The scenery is beautiful and the nearby lakes/reservoirs are part of the Colorado State Park system. Unfortunately, the campground has been hit by a pine beetle infestation, resulting in all of the trees being cut down. This has left the campground looking messy and difficult to walk around in. The dirt roads are dusty and poorly maintained, the sites are not being cleaned regularly, and the playground surface is part dirt and part wood chips. The bathrooms and showers are rundown, and the Wi-Fi seldom works. The small store is well stocked, but the prices are high. On the plus side, the owners are friendly and helpful, and the nearby Arapaho National Wildlife Refuge and State Forest State Park visitor center are worth visiting.
