Lathrop State Park is a beautiful park with plenty of natural beauty and amenities. Its a large campsite with lots of space to spread out. All the sites were paved and pull-through, but some may require leveling. The cost may seem a little expensive for camping and parking fee. However, the park offers electric hookups and dump stations. There are plenty of hiking trails and a beautiful view of the Spanish Peaks. Its perfect for a one-night stay while passing through or a longer stay to fully enjoy the scenery.
From The Campground
Lathrop State Park offers 103 campsites and three group-camping areas that accommodate motor homes, trailers, and tents. The campgrounds offer either a basic or improved camping experience. Yucca Campground is non-electric and has 21 back-in campsites providing a basic camping experience with gravel roads, vault toilets, water hydrants throughout the campground. Piñon Campground has 82 campsites and features pull-through or back-in paved sites, paved roads, up to 50-amp electrical hookups, fire pits, and picnic tables. It also has new restrooms and pay showers in each loop. Public water hydrants are located throughout the campground but do not allow for individual hookup, and a dump station is available. Trash receptacles are located at the entrance to each of the campground’s four loops. Handicap sites are also available. Group camping reservations can now be made 6 months in advance.
