Monument Lake Campground is a great place to stay for RV or tent camping. Located in an absolutely beautiful part of the country, the campground is situated at the foot of the southern San Isabel mountain range. There are secluded tent spots, small cabins, RV spots, and a restaurant. The lake is stocked with trout every 10 days and is a great spot for fishing with salmon eggs. There is also a camp store, boat rental, and a small convenience store and cafe nearby. The campground is free to park and open until dusk, and the local fire dept hosts a fishing tourney the first weekend of June. Nearby fly fishing is available at North Lake, and Herman trailheads are a 5 minute drive away. Although the roads are in poor condition and the staff is uninterested, this park could be very nice with proper management.

Monument Lake Resort is a beautiful camping and fishing destination located in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of Colorado. The resort offers dry and tent camping spots, cabins, boat rentals, and hiking opportunities. The lake is stocked regularly with catchable rainbow and brown trout as well as Kokanee salmon. Visitors can also enjoy exploring the nearby town of Trinidad and its historic district.
