This campground is perfect for those looking for a peaceful and secluded mountain camping experience. It is basic and primitive, so dont expect any luxuries. There is no access to electric or water, but there is a hand pump water well to fill small containers. There is a pit toilet and the camp host keeps everything clean. The dirt road to the campground is rough, but it is a beautiful drive with stunning views of mule deer, chipmunks, flowers, and tons of birds. Verizon coverage had 1 bar at the south end. It is a great spot for those looking for a peaceful and secluded camping experience.

Purgatoire Campground is a developed campground located in Pike-San Isabel National Forests & Cimarron and Comanche National Grasslands. It offers 23 campsites, 13 RV sites, and 10 tent sites. The campground provides amenities such as drinking water, toilets, and fire rings. Activities available include stream fishing, hiking, bicycling, and horseback riding. The North Fork Trail #1309 trailhead is located on the north side of the campground. The campground is open from May 12, 2023, to October 8, 2023, and reservations can be made by phone or online.
