GenieSummary

This campground is located off CO 14 and is ideal for tent camping, car camping, and conversion vans. It is a small campground with a vault toilet and potable water, but no RVs or trailers allowed due to the narrow one lane access road. There are fire grills and picnic tables provided, but no designated tent pads, no bear boxes, and no electricity. The campground is almost completely open, with no trees, but the 360 degree views are worth it. There are lots of great activities to participate in very close by - fishing, hiking, 4-wheeling and more! The staff is friendly and rangers drive by every couple hours. There is a moose that has unfortunately become accustomed to eating from peoples unsecured trash, so be sure to keep all food and trash secure. There is an old and poorly maintained pit toilet, but a new one is locked and roped off with construction netting. The road up the mountain can be steep, rough, and narrow, so be aware of that. It is a beautiful spot with a creek running right through the middle and great hiking all around. There is a ranger station north of the park that has the state pass needed. The campground was mostly full the weekend we stayed there, but the sites are far enough apart that it didnt feel intrusive. Enjoy the wild spaces, but remember to recreate responsibly and keep wildlife safe.
