What others are saying about this campground
Blue Spring State Park is a classic old-style Florida State Park located in Central Florida. It features wooded, spacious, private sites with dense foliage between them for added privacy. The park is home to a variety of wildlife including manatees, river otters, and alligators. It is also a popular spot for swimming, snorkeling, diving, tubing, kayaking, and boat tours. The spring is the main attraction and is open for swimming activities from April to October. During the winter months, the spring is closed to swimming activities, but visitors can view the manatees from the boardwalk. The park also offers a 2-hour St. Johns River Cruise and a bike trail that goes north and south for miles. The campground has reliable electricity and water, fire rings, and picnic tables. The bathhouses are well-maintained and clean, with plenty of hot water and good pressure. Unfortunately, the park can be crowded, especially on weekends, due to the manatee viewing opportunities and the desire to get outdoors during the pandemic. The road around the campground can be tight due to vehicles parked in front of their campers. There can also be back-ups at the entrance station. Be aware that there is a train running about three times a day and night.

From The Campground

Blue Spring State Park is a gem along the St. Johns River in Florida. Visitors can encounter the gentle giants we call Manatees and enjoy summer water activities such as swimming, snorkeling, and scuba diving. The park offers boat tours and canoe/kayak rentals for use on the St. Johns River. Visitors can hike along the spring run or on the 4.5-mile Pine Island Trail. The park also offers a fully stocked gift shop and camp store, a two-hour narrated Nature and Ecological Cruise on the St. Johns River, and a Guided Wilderness Escape Segway tour. From mid-November to March, hundreds of manatees congregate in the spring run to seek shelter from the cold. It’s a truly unforgettable sight to see so many of these iconic animals in one place.
