What others are saying about this campground
Tory Island is a beautiful campground located an hour away from South Florida. It is situated on an island bordering Lake Okeechobee and is run by the county. The campground features a boat ramp, bait and tackle store, and a beautiful nature trail and observation deck. There is a local festival called Black Gold that takes place in mid April. The campground is also close to the Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail, perfect for biking and bird watching. The campground has plenty of amenities including picnic areas, hiking, and biking trails. All sites have water, electricity, and sewer hook ups and are nicely spaced out with plenty of room and choices for shade, water access, and open areas. The campground is also home to a lot of full-time campers, making it feel like a community. However, the nearby towns are not great and the surrounding neighborhood is rough. There are also a lot of mosquitoes, so make sure to bring bug repellant. The campground is a great place to spend some quality time with family and friends and experience the beauty of nature.
