Sand Pond Campground is a peaceful and well-maintained campground located approximately 25 miles from Panama City Beach. The campground is situated in a mixed hardwood and pine forest, with three sites along Pine Log Creek. Campsite 2 and 3 provide the best views of the river, and all sites have hookups for water and electric. There is a two-mile Campground Trail, part of the Forest Services Trailwalker Program, which winds along the banks of Cyprus Pond, through the mixed hardwood/pine forest, and around Sand Pond. The campground is also home to a beautiful lake, where visitors can enjoy fishing and watching the moon rise. The sites are spacious and not right on top of each other, and the campground is secure and safe for families with young children. There is a security gate that cuts down on non-camper traffic, and the camp host is very friendly and welcoming. The sites have fire rings, picnic tables, water, and electricity, and there is a dump station. Unfortunately, there are no full hookups and the dump station is closed. There is also a bathhouse with showers and restrooms, and a fishing pond with piers. The campground is also close to the Florida Trail, providing easy access for hikers.
