What others are saying about this campground
Fort Clinch State Park is a beautiful and historic park located in Fernandina, Florida. The park offers a variety of activities, from touring the historic fort and participating in re-enactments to fishing, biking, and hiking. Tent campsites are available, although they are close together. The park is not very pet friendly, but visitors can leave their pets alone for 30 minutes to tour the fort. The ocean side campground is open and less private due to lack of trees, but it is close to the beach. The roads to the campground are paved, but narrow and winding with some low overhead clearance areas. The River CG is a great spot for families, with clean and modern bathrooms, plenty of activities within the park, and a view across the dunes to the water. The sites have water and power, a picnic table, a fire ring, lantern hook, and a clothes drying line. However, the sites can be muddy if it rains, and the park is covered in sand spurs. Cell service is a little weak, but Verizon and AT&T work well. The park ranger will call with the gate code when getting ready to leave the station. The drive in is about 2-3 miles and along a canopy road of live oaks with hanging Spanish moss. The only thing to watch for is low clearance branches, but they are marked with caution signs. Prices start at $35.00 (plus $2.63) tax per night.
