Salt Springs Recreation Area is the perfect destination for outdoor enthusiasts and families alike. Located in the Ocala National Forest in central Florida, this park offers a variety of activities such as fishing, canoeing, snorkeling, swimming, biking, hiking, bird watching, photography and more. The spring water is crystal clear and has a slight salinity due to the magnesium, sodium and potassium levels. Campers can choose from over 150 sites in two large camping areas, with both RV and primitive tent sites available. All sites are equipped with fire rings, grills, lantern posts, and picnic tables. There is a boat ramp and kayaking can be done in the spring river. Nearby amenities include a grocery store, gas station, restaurants, post office, laundromat, and a dollar store. The staff are professional and friendly and the area is very clean with little mosquito activity. There is no laundry on site, but there is a laundromat at a nearby mall. T-Mobile customers should be aware that there is no service in the area.
