This campground is a great place for those looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Located in a secluded area near Fort Pierce, Florida, the campground offers plenty of opportunities to get in touch with nature. With plenty of bird sightings, walking trails, and scenic views of the marshland, you can relax and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. The sites are level and well-maintained, with full hookups, picnic tables, and fire rings. There are also canoe and kayak rentals, a playground, and a volleyball area. The campground is gated with a K-9 officer and his partner living onsite for added security. Unfortunately, the restrooms closest to the tent area are closed and there is a flooding problem. There are no amenities or nearby attractions, but it is a great spot to relax and enjoy the wildlife. The WiFi is weak and intermittent, but AT&T phone and data service are good in the area. The check-in process can be a bit tricky, so be sure to arrive before the office closes. Overall, this is a great spot for a relaxing stay, with plenty of nature to explore.

From The Campground
Savannas Recreation Area is a unique wilderness area in Florida that covers 550 acres and five distinct biological communities. It provides access to pine flatwoods, wet prairie, marsh, lake, and scrub habitats. The campground is open year-round for camping and public recreational use, including fishing, canoe/kayak rentals, a dog park, and walking/biking trails. The amenities available to campers include hot showers, public restrooms, picnic pavilions and tables, WiFi (for registered guests only), fire rings at each site, large community fire rings for groups, and laundry facilities. The campground offers full hookup sites, unimproved sites (tents only - no electricity), and youth group primitive sites (youth groups only - no individual rentals). Canoes and kayaks are available for rent, and there is a private rental area called Palm Island Pavilion that boasts a 60’x40’ pavilion with concrete floors, picnic tables, and benches. There are men’s and women’s restroom facilities and an attached kitchenette. Savannas Recreation Area is a great place for passive recreation activities such as wildlife/bird watching, walking or biking the nature trail, and enjoying the dog park with your best friend.
