What others are saying about this campground
OLeno State Park is a beautiful and rustic campground located in High Springs, Florida. It was developed in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps and is full of wildlife and interesting history. The park offers a Nature center, CCC museum, several trails to hike, a suspension bridge, swimming area on Santa Fe River, and picnic facilities. It also has a large group camp with cabins that includes a dining hall, meeting building and open air pavilion. The campground roads and sites are packed sand and have recently been “corralled” with split rail fencing and a centrally located bathhouse. The sites are spacious and private, and heavily wooded, with a fire ring, split rail boundary fence, and picnic table. The bathhouses are clean with large, tiled showers and spacious dressing area with heat lamps. There is an easy one-way loop road and the roads in the loops are narrow with limbs that will drag the top and sides of your RV, so it is important to drive carefully. The park offers a great system of trails, including an easy one that loops from the point of the suspension bridge and back. There is also a canoe outfitter who will pick you up down river and bring you back. The only negative is that the dump station was down and there were no signs or anything on the website telling us this.

From The Campground

O'Leno State Park is one of Florida's first state parks, developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. The park is located along the banks of the scenic Santa Fe River, a tributary of the Suwannee River, and features sinkholes, hardwood hammocks, river swamps, and sandhills. As the river courses through the park, it disappears underground and reemerges over three miles away in River Rise Preserve State Park. O’Leno State Park offers visitors the opportunity to unwind in a natural setting. Enjoy a day of hiking or biking on the park’s shaded trails. The Santa Fe River is a beautiful spot to launch a canoe or try your hand at fishing along its banks. Pavilions are located along the river’s edge, providing a serene backdrop for picnicking and relaxing. The shady, full-facility campground is the perfect place for a relaxing overnight stay.
