Southern Comfort RV Resort is a large RV park near the entrance to the Keys. One of the main attractions of the park is a huge tiki bar with a good selection of drinks and ample seating. Though the drink prices are quite high. The park has a strong and fun party vibe with karaoke and entertainment that goes late into the night. There are some card games but very few activities for children. The park has large sites with trees. One of the biggest issues with the park is the old and outdated restrooms and shower facilities. The 50-year-old bathhouse appears to have never received an upgrade or repair. Many of the showers and toilets are non-functioning and the place can be downright gross. The laundromat has old and beat-up equipment, and the picnic tables are rotting and falling apart. Although the pool is heated and nice, many of the tiles are cracked or missing. There is a water aerobics class but pool attendance can exceed capacity, making the water cloudy. The bar seats are stained with sticky armrests, and there is inconsistent cleaning of the bathhouse. Most of the staff do not speak English. Security is present until midnight but theft in the neighborhood can be an issue. There is no Wi-Fi available and roosters can be heard crowing throughout the day. The park is said to be a goldmine for the owner due to its location, but it appears that not a single cent has been invested in upkeep since the early 1970s. Despite its shortcomings, the park is perfect for someone who wants to be close to the Keys and does not need to use any amenities.
