Alafia River State Park in Lithia, FL is a beautiful and peaceful state park. The campsites are easy to access and many are pull-thrus that are fairly level. Although there are no sewer hookups, the located dump station is conveniently located. The parks hilly terrain, beautiful trees, and lakes are remnants from its past as a phosphate mine. There are trails available for all types of bikers, from beginners to advanced riders. The park has equestrian sites with stables and small fenced areas for horses. The Rangers are friendly and helpful, making for a great experience. The only downside is the mosquitoes, so remember to bring your insect repellent.

From The Campground

Alafia River State Park is a reclaimed phosphate mine with some of the most radical elevation changes in the state, making it a hot spot for mountain bikers. Equestrians and hikers can explore 20 miles of hilly trails through forests and flatwoods, stopping to relax and admire the park's tranquil lakes. Canoeing and fishing opportunities are available along the South Prong of the Alafia River with some lakes scattered throughout the park. The park also offers a full-service bike shop, picnic pavilions, a playground, a full-facility campground with accommodations for equestrians.
