Larry & Penny Thompson Memorial Park & Campground in Miami, FL is a county park that offers a great camping experience. The park is well maintained, clean, and has daily activities. The sites are level with paved areas and shaded trees. The laundry facilities are nice, and there are clotheslines available. The campground has an activity center with clean bathrooms. The pool is a nice amenity, although its not open as much as you may like. The adjoining Larry and Penny county park has paved paths and some hard pack dirt around the lake for easy bike or walking. Its a great place to come and unwind. The park can get busy, so it may be a good idea to book in advance. While you can hear some sirens and street noise, thats expected in Miami. The location offers easy access to the Everglades National Park and the Keys making it a great base for exploring. Overall, its a great park to stay in for an extended time and relax.

From The Campground

Larry & Penny Thompson Park and Campground is a first-class camping area adjacent to world-famous zoo Miami. It has 270 acres of natural South Florida woodland, bike trails, hiking paths, and a freshwater lake with its own beach that operates seasonally. Our campground consists of 240 separate campsites for recreational vehicles, each with electrical, sewer and water hook-ups. Amenities include four large bathhouse facilities with laundry, restrooms and showers.
