What others are saying about this campground
Midway Campground is a great place to stay while exploring the Everglades National Park and Big Cypress Preserve. It is located at mile marker 52 on route 41 Tamiami trail, midway between Naples and Miami. The campground is surrounded by a large barrow pit with several gators, and there is a small pond in the middle with a gator that visitors should be aware of. All the campsites are paved and level, but can be a bit tight to get in due to trees and perpendicular to to road. There are electric hookups, but no water or sewer hookups. The campground is well maintained and offers great views of the Big Cypress National Preserve. There is a camp host on site and a nearby visitors center to visit and observe the alligators. The campground is also near to the Oasis Ranger Station and the Florida Trail, as well as loop road and Shark Valley. The sites are $30 per night and it is recommended to reserve ahead of time. Verizon and AT&T cell signals are weak, but still usable with the help of a booster amplifier. There is a small grocery store about 30 minutes away in Everglades City, so visitors should come well supplied. The campground is great for star gazing, bird watching, and wildlife viewing, but visitors should bring their own entertainment and be prepared for bug bites.
