Oscar Scherer State Park is a beautiful and secluded campground located between Nokomis and Osprey in Sarasota county. It is conveniently located close to US#1 Rated Beach Siesta Key, the Ringling Museum, Van Wezel Performing Arts Center, St. Armands Circle, Lido Beach, award-winning restaurants, tiki bars, dinner cruises, and more. The campground is connected to the Legacy Bike Trail, a 12 mile ride to Venice or north to Sarasota. The park features marked trails, bicycle friendly with a bike trail, swimming lake, multiple playgrounds, guided scrub jay tours, ranger involved, kid friendly science center, kayak and canoe rentals, and a campfire circle. There is a nice amount of foliage between most campsites, decent restroom facilities, and a playground conveniently located in one ring of the campground. The park also offers free Wi-Fi at the Nature Center, and a variety of volunteer provided activities such as low impact exercise, nature walks, guided canoe trips and hikes, music, and more. With its dense tropical foliage, the park provides lots of privacy and is a great spot for families and adventurers alike.
