Palmetto Campground is a great place to stay for those looking to explore the Tampa, Sarasota, and Gulf Beaches areas of Florida. It is conveniently located near I-75/275 and offers easy access to many attractions. The facilities are older but clean, and the park is mostly made up of permanent or seasonal sites. They have a nice pool and clubhouse, a fenced-in dog park with a walking path, and laundry facilities. The site can be tight for bigger rigs, and the ground can be sandy and weedy. They also have a Dollar General store just outside the entrance. Unfortunately, there is no fire pit, hiking, lake, or beach, and the train nearby can be noisy. However, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the neighbors are very welcoming. This is a great place to stay for a while if you have a secondary vehicle to get around and explore the area.
