What others are saying about this campground
St. Joseph Peninsula State Park is a secluded and remote campground located on the Forgotten Coast of the Florida Panhandle. The park has two campgrounds, Gulf Breeze and Shady Pines, and offers a variety of outdoor activities such as kayaking, paddle-boarding, fishing, swimming, snorkeling, scalloping, boating, and bird watching. The park also has a boat ramp and small marina area for boaters on the bay side of the peninsula. The campgrounds have paved access roads and level sites with poles for a clothesline, picnic table, and fire ring, but no BBQ grill. There are outdoor showers near the beach boardwalk, and a small store near the marina if you need basic supplies. The beach is white sand with plenty of shells, and there is a 14 mile hiking trail with a permit. The park is perfect for a peaceful getaway, but be aware that there is no camping allowed due to the damage caused by Hurricane Michael in October 2018. There is also no wifi or cell service, and the nearest town is 25-30 minutes away.
