What others are saying about this campground
Highlands Hammock SP is a quiet campground located in Florida with 138 sites. It is well-maintained and includes a CCC museum and camp store. The sites are close together and dont offer much privacy, but they are easy to back in. There is a single dump station, and the camp store is well-stocked with we forgot items, food, ice cream, and souvenirs. There are plenty of trails for hiking and biking, and the park also hosts live music events and a guided tram tour. The campground has a rustic feel, with narrow roads and sandy dirt paths, and large trees making backing into tight spaces difficult. There is a small kiosk with a bench for dialing up the internet, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The restaurant has delicious desserts, and the park is a great place to relax and explore nature.

From The Campground
Highlands Hammock State Park is a unique and richly divergent collection of plant and animal life, supporting a beautiful yet delicate ecosystem. With more rare and endemic species than any other Florida State Park, visitors can walk the trails where the Florida panther and black bear quietly pass beneath the ancient, towering oaks of a magnificent hydric hammock. The park has a significant number of New Deal era structures and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. With its beautiful old-growth hammock and variety of habitats and wildlife species, this is the Real Florida at its best.
