What others are saying about this campground
The sites are small, but the campground is well maintained, with fire rings, picnic tables, and even hammock posts at some sites. There are miles of level trails for walking and biking, and boat ramps for river access. There is a large day area with pavilions, picnic tables, marina and boat ramp, and swimming. The park also offers a number of unique wildlife viewing opportunities, including the elusive and rare Red Cockaded Woodpeckers, the beautiful Pie Bald deer, and the white squirrels. The campground road and sites are compacted sand, pine needles, and oak tree leaves. It is dotted with small ponds and there is a narrow strip of white beach beside the tea colored river. Be sure to bring along your binoculars and camera to catch all of the wildlife and natural beauty of this state park!

From The Campground

Experience a wild Florida river and one of the best-preserved longleaf pine forests in the world. Ecological restoration at Ochlockonee River State Park has successfully preserved the beautiful longleaf pine forests that once covered much of the state. Trails allow visitors to explore the park and see the diverse wildlife, including the red-cockaded woodpecker, and natural communities such as pine flatwoods and sandhill. A boat ramp provides easy access to the river. Both freshwater and saltwater fish inhabit the waters around the park, including largemouth bass, bream, catfish and speckled perch. For overnight visitors, there are full-facility campsites with access to restrooms and showers. Youth group camping is also available. Canoes and kayaks are available for rent at the ranger station. Picnic facilities and a swimming area are located near the scenic point where the Ochlockonee and Dead rivers intersect.
