Smiling Gator is a well-organized campground located off I-95 and 16A highway in St. Augustine, Florida. It offers back-in and drive-through slots with the typical RV hook-ups (water, sewage and 30 / 50 amp electrical) and a main office with information on the local area. There is a volleyball court, doggie park, and a few scattered picnic tables. Tent camping is not allowed. Across the street is an entrance point to 12 mile swamp, which has some great hiking trails. There are also several access points for watercraft, such as Princess Preserve and Faver-Dyke State Park. Nearby, there are food trucks at Munch, a high-end seafood restaurant at Cap’s on the Water, and North Beach Campground on the strand between Ponte Vedra and St. Augustine beaches.
