Phipps Park in Martin County is a hidden gem of a campground, perfect for group rentals and ideal for beginners. With a wide open field, there is no separation between the sites, but the campground is situated on a beautiful property with nice paved and gravel trails, and a fishing pier, bike path along the river, and boat launch area. The 99 RV sites have full hook-up and water view, and there is a new tent area with plenty of space for changing clothes. The campground is built on the site of an innovative stormwater catchment and treatment area, so there is interesting information to learn about efforts to clean and control stormwater flow in the region. The staff at the gate is friendly and the park is very clean, with communal restrooms, laundry room, and outdoor dish pit. There is also a 55 acre conservation land with plenty of trails for exploring. The only negatives are that the showers could be cleaner and the sink soap dispenser was inoperative, and some of the sites are closely spaced with little privacy.
