What others are saying about this campground
Hillsborough River State Park is a large, beautiful park located northeast of Tampa, easily accessible from I-4 and I-75. The park offers miles of trails through old scrubby Florida of palm and pine trees, draped with Spanish moss and live oaks. There are plenty of activities to enjoy, including biking, canoeing, kayaking, and swimming in the parks pool. The sites are mostly sand, and some are a bit hard to back into with a larger rig. There are lots of critters that come right into your campsite, including armadillos, squirrels, raccoons, and vultures. The park is exceptionally clean and the staff is very friendly, but there are no amenities such as internet or shopping within 9 miles. There is a cafe and gift shop onsite, and the park rangers sell excellent firewood. Mosquitoes can be bothersome, so be sure to bring repellent. It can get very busy on the weekends, and reservations are recommended. Overall, Hillsborough River State Park is a peaceful and tranquil place to relax and enjoy nature.
